Victoria Hislop, a leading novelist who delights in frequently setting her writings in the Greek landscape, has spoken of her admiration for the artist Harikleia Papapostolou, who has just made her London debut.

Intensely coloured, the compelling abstract oil paintings of Harikleia Papapostolou are on show at Belgravia Gallery, 23 Maddox Street, W1, until  May 16 2015. The minute they entered the gallery, guests at the preview evening for the show were struck by the dynamism of the collection, which is entitled appropriately Breathing Colours. Harikleia, born in Stratoni in Halkidiki, came to London following critical acclaim for her previous exhibitions in Athens.

Formally opening the exhibition, Ms Hislop left the audience – which included personalities from the spheres of arts, culture, diplomacy, finance, investment, insurance and property – in no doubt of her admiration for Ms Papapostolou.

BREATHING COLOURS @ BELGRAVIA GALLERY

«Breathing Colours» London debut exhibition by up and coming Greek artist  Harikleia Papapostolou will  open   on  Tuesday, May 12th, at 18.00 to 21.00   at Belgravia Gallery,  23 Maddox Street, W1, in the heart of the West End art district   and will last until Saturday, May 16.

Best-selling author Victoria Hislop, whose writings and their television adaptations have celebrated the essence of society and culture in Greece, has agreed to open the first London exhibition by one of that country’s most exciting artists, Harikleia Papapostolou.

Victoria Hislop is an enthusiast for the works of Harikleia Papapostolou, who has earned admiring coverage in the Greek press and is beginning to attract increasing attention elsewhere in Europe.

"I love Harikleia’s work,” said Mrs Hislop.  “Her use of texture, movement and colour is really exceptional.  But as important as her technique is her passion, which I see in every piece that she creates.  Harikleia is a very talented artist and I am very proud to own one of her paintings.  It fills the room with light and energy.”

Harikleia Papapostolou is being introduced to discerning UK audiences by London art consultant Diane Soames.

"Ms Papapostolou’s large canvases, which are as striking as the brilliant light of the Greek mainland and islands while avoiding any shadow of pictorial cliché, enthral her viewers. While expressing her own feelings through her harmonised abstract forms, Harikleia prefers viewers to make their own interpretations, but does insist that her projects symbolise life itself in its constant motion, its pulsating and illuminated striving for continuity. “There is no need to try to understand a work of art: we can just feel it,” she says. "Her use of abstraction serves her need for freedom of expression, and in this way her works acquire their own autonomy."

"I love color and I need it in my life," Ms Papapostolou  declares. 

And its obvious that this particular  artist  lives and breathes through the special  gift of nature, color.

Belgravia Gallery is London's showcase for work by truly outstanding artists and people of renown. Started in 1986, it is located in the heart of the art district close to Piccadilly.

Η ΕΛΛΗΝΙΔΑ ΕΙΚΑΣΤΙΚΟΣ ΧΑΡΙΚΛΕΙΑ ΠΑΠΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΟΥ "ΚΑΤΑΚΤΑ" ΤΟ ΛΟΝΔΙΝΟ

Την Τρίτη, 12 Μαΐου, στις 18.00 έως 21.00 γίνονται τα εγκαίνια της ατομικής έκθεσης της ζωγράφου Χαρίκλειας Παπαποστόλου, στο Λονδίνο, με τίτλο Breathing Colours.

Η έκθεση θα λάβει χώρα στην καταξιωμένη γκαλερί Belgravia στην καρδιά του West End End του Λονδίνου και θα διαρκέσει μέχρι και το Σάββατο 16 Μαΐου.

H δημοφιλής συγγραφέας Βικτόρια Χίσλοπ που εγκωμίασε την ουσία της ελληνικής κοινωνίας και κουλτούρας με τα βιβλία της θα εγκαινιάσει την έκθεση ζωγραφικής στο Λονδίνο μίας από τις πιο συναρπαστικές καλλιτέχνιδες της χώρας, της Χαρίκλειας Παπαποστόλου.

«Λατρεύω τη δουλειά της Χαρίκλειας», είπε η κυρία Χίσλοπ. «Ο τρόπος που χρησιμοποιεί την υφή, την κίνηση και το χρώμα, στ’ αλήθεια, είναι εξαιρετικός. Εξίσου σημαντικό με την τεχνική της είναι και το πάθος που την διακατέχει το οποίο αντανακλάται σε κάθε έργο που δημιουργεί. Η Χαρίκλεια είναι μια πολύ ταλαντούχα καλλιτέχνης και είμαι πολύ περήφανη κάτοχος ενός έργου της πουγεμίζει το δωμάτιο που τοποθετήθηκε με φως και ενέργεια».

Τη Χαρίκλεια Παπαποστόλου παρουσιάζει στο απαιτητικό κοινό του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου η Diane Soames, σύμβουλος τέχνης στο Λονδίνο.

Οι μεγάλοι καμβάδες της κυρίας Παπαποστόλου είναι εντυπωσιακοί όσο και το θαυμαστό φως της ηπειρωτικής Ελλάδας και των νησιών ενώ γοητεύουν τους θεατές τους χωρίς να καταφεύγουν σε χρωματικές εικονογραφικές κοινοτυπίες.

Είναι βέβαιο ότι το κοινό θα εκτιμήσει την πρωτότυπη χρήση του χρώματος της εικαστικού που αφήνει ένα έντονο αποτύπωμα στη μνήμη του θεατή με τη συν-αισθητική ικανότητα που έχει να ταυτίζεται ασυνείδητα με οτιδήποτε αξίζει να υμνηθεί στη φύση.

 Ο τίτλος της έκθεσης της εικαστικού, Breathing Colours, εκφράζει την ευχέρεια της Χαρίκλειας Παπαποστόλου να εκμαιεύει φωτεινές αποχρώσεις από τους σωματικούς και νοητικούς χώρους που την περιβάλλουν: «Αγαπώ το χρώμα και το χρειάζομαι στη ζωή μου», λέει. Και στ’ αλήθεια, η καλλιτέχνης αυτή ζει και αναπνέει μέσα από αυτό το δώρο της φύσης, το χρώμα.
